William O. West


William O. West, 48, of Tallmadge, passed away Feb. 25, 2003, after a long illness.

Mr. West was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, and was proud to have served with Patton's own "Hell on Wheels" 2nd Armored Division. He worked as a machinist at several area machine shops, including Akromold, Prospect Mold, Gauer Mold and, most recently, Heyden Mold and Bench.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Laura West. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 25 years, Cynthia; daughters, Anna and Tracy West; sister, Cynthia Miller; mother-in-law, Anna Thomas; and many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the dialysis nurses and technicians at Summit Renal Care East, espe cially Melissa Basso, for their won derful care and compassion.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m., at Greenlawn Memorial Park, with mil itary honors provided by Firestone V.F.W. 3383. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Summit County Veterans Service Commission, 148 Park St., Akron, Ohio 44308. All services are under the direction of NEWCOMER-FAR LEY FUNERAL HOME.
